Shark Week made a splash at Farmington Elementary last week, and even Superintendent Manuel was thrilled to swim by and see the elaborate setup created by third-grade parents. Inflatable sharks, jellyfish, and colorful sea creatures transformed the classrooms into an underwater wonderland.
Students dove into their learning, sharing fascinating shark facts with the Superintendent as he made his rounds. "Sharks lose their teeth all the time, but they grow new ones back!" one excited student explained. "Did you know some sharks can glow in the dark?" added another, lighting up the room with their enthusiasm.
“The decor was executed by our amazing third-grade parents,” said third-grade teacher Danielle Bishop. But it wasn’t just about the fun. Shark Week ties perfectly into the district’s marine life reading module, blending whimsy with rigor. As the top district in the state for third-grade reading, Farmington knows how to keep things engaging and educational all at once.
While reading classes at GMSD may be intense, our teachers, students, and families certainly know how to infuse fun into the experience—turning classrooms into oceans and students into budding marine biologists for a week!
