That’s okay! Many of our performers are trying theatre for the first time. We’ll help them through every step. Ensemble roles are a great place to start, and everyone has a part to play. We also offer Audition Workshops so students can:

• Practice on stage
• Meet the creative team
• Get comfortable before audition day
   

A printed 4x6 headshot photo.  This will be attached to your audition form.

There is no need to print your audition form!  Our team will complete that step for you.

Please note: We highly recommend attending an Audition Workshop, especially this year as we welcome a new director team and will be adjusting the audition process slightly from past years.  Parents are welcome to attend but are not required.  We'll have an area for you to sit and observe.
SIGNUPS FOR OUR AUDITION WORKSHOPS will go LIVE after students have been assigned homerooms for the 25-26 school year.  Those registered for audition slots will be invited to register first. We will offer two sessions:

• Monday, August 11th from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. 
• Tuesday, August 12th from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. 
   

Judges include members of the creative director team and outside consultants. Directors do not score their own children or close relatives. We use a rubric to score auditions, combined with a teacher recommendation. Scores help us determine ensembles. Callback decisions are based on these scores and other observations.  See below for a sample score card:

Practice in front of a mirror or record and review
Focus on:
Projection – The judges are seated far from the stage. Volume matters!
Facial expressions & simple body movements – Just 1–2 planned movements help show character.
Introductions – Practice clearly saying their name, audition number, and song selection
Most importantly: Have fun! Auditions are a chance to perform, not a test.
 

What are they? A second round of auditions for specific roles. Students may read scenes, sing character-specific songs, or perform additional choreography.

When are the callbacks? Immediately following the general auditions, on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
What to expect? Bring jazz and tap shoes if available. An additional dance will be taught to some asked to callbacks.  No preparation is needed for reading scenes. Students should be familiar with all musical selections—some may be asked to sing a new one.
How will I know? Families will be contacted by phone between 3pm and 4pm on audition day, Saturday, August 16, 2025.

What if my child doesn’t get a callback? That’s totally okay—and doesn’t mean they won’t be cast! Some roles require callbacks, but most ensemble and featured parts do not.

No. You may drop off your child and return at the end of their audition slot unless otherwise notified. We will provide chairs in the lobby vestibule for those who wish to wait, or you may remain in your car.

Parents are not permitted past the check-in table. We find this helps make the audition process far less stressful for our students—and rest assured, we will take excellent care of them!

While the audition process typically takes around 20 minutes, please understand that our team may occasionally run behind, especially during the first few audition groups. We appreciate your patience if students need a little extra time or request a second try (it happens from time to time!).

How will casting be announced? The full cast list will be posted on the Falcon Footlights website on Sunday evening following the audition (August 17). Our team is also committed to emailing and texting everyone who auditioned as soon as the cast list goes live.

Will we be notified? Yes—an email or text will go out to all participants.

What if my child is disappointed? Please encourage them to accept their role. All roles are essential. If your child does not want to accept, let us know immediately so we can notify alternate cast members.

What if my child doesn’t get cast? We can only cast about 65 students. Those not cast are encouraged to apply for crew, which will include a minor performance opportunity!

Start Date: Friday August 22, 2025.

Frequency: 2–3 rehearsals per week, more as performance nears. Not all students attend every rehearsal.

Attendance Policy:

1. Up to 3 excused absences before Nov. 1 (must be submitted in writing)
2. MANDATORY rehearsals begin Nov. 1

• Thursday, Dec 11: Opening Night + Select Cast Autographs – 7:00 p.m.

• Friday, Dec 12: Evening Performance + Autographs – 7:00 p.m.

• Saturday, Dec 13: Evening Performance + Autographs – 7:00 p.m.

• Sunday, Dec 14: Matinee Performance – 2:00 p.m.

• Monday, Dec 15: School Day Field Trip Performance + Cast Party – Time TBD

Falcon Footlights does not provide transportation. We will help families from the same school and ensemble group coordinate carpools at the parent meeting.  Rehearsals begin (on school days) beginning at 4:00 p.m.
 

Photos are allowed at rehearsals. A professional recording of the final show will be available for purchase. Please note: Personal recordings of the performance are not permitted due to licensing restrictions.  Our team will also have professional photos taken.  Those will be available to families at no cost.

• Parent Volunteer Requirement: Every family is asked to join a committee (costumes, props, set design, cast party, etc.)
• Opt-Out Option: Families who cannot volunteer may contribute a $150 donation instead.
• Committee Sign-Up: Committees will be filled after the parent meeting. Chairs will contact volunteers once rosters are finalized.
• Mandatory Parent Meeting: Wednesday, August 20 | 5:30–6:30 p.m.
   

• Participation Fee: $165 per cast member. Covers scripts, costumes, production materials, and tech needs.
• Costumes: Provided! Some items like shoes or undershirts may be requested from home.
• Financial Assistance: No formal scholarships, but families with financial concerns should email falconfootlights@gmail.com.

Students must be "off book" by October 20. After that date, they may call for a line if needed, but should be performance-ready.
