Principal

Mrs. Brasfield leads Farmington Elementary with dedication to fostering a collaborative and thriving school community. She oversees all grades and staff, PTO coordination, school fundraising, professional development, and building management. Mrs. Brasfield's commitment ensures a positive and enriching environment for students and educators alike.

Farmington Elementary School has named longtime GMSD school psychologist Jane J. Garitty as its new assistant principal. Garitty has served Germantown Municipal School District since 2018, beginning as a school psychology intern before moving into a full-time school psychologist role supporting students, staff, and families across special education services. Her work has centered on collaboration, problem solving, and data-driven decision making through extensive experience with IEP development, RTI processes, and behavior support. Garitty holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rhodes College, along with a master’s degree and Education Specialist degree in school psychology from the University of Memphis. Her background in communication, relationship building, and student advocacy provides a strong foundation for her new leadership role at Farmington Elementary School. She will begin transitioning into the assistant principal position during the spring semester.

Melinda Henson

Assistant Principal

Mrs. Henson manages grades 3-5 and specialists, as well as scheduling, textbook coordination, and field trips. She serves as the 504 administrator and safety coordinator, ensuring smooth operations for transportation and attendance. Mrs. Henson is dedicated to enhancing the upper-grade learning experience and school safety.

School Counselor

School Counselor

Mrs. Maddie Hopkins is excited to serve as the K, 1st, and 2nd grade school counselor at Farmington Elementary. Originally from Southaven, Mississippi, she returned to the Memphis area after spending a year in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mrs. Hopkins earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 2022 and her Master’s in School Counseling in 2024, both from the University of Mississippi. She and her husband, Nick, have been married for one year and share their home with two dogs, Sunny and Louis. Mrs. Hopkins loves building personal relationships with students and helping them reach their full potential. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, listening to music, watching musicals, cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels and New Orleans Saints, and indulging in Asian cuisine and chocolate. She is thrilled to serve the Falcon family and looks forward to an awesome year.

School Counselor

School Counselor

Mrs. Elicia Thompson is excited to serve as the 3rd, 4th, 5th grade school counselor at Farmington Elementary. She holds a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling and has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for five years, with a total of ten years of experience in the mental health field. Mrs. Thompson made the transition to school counseling as her daughter entered kindergarten, and she, her husband, and their daughter are thrilled to be part of the Falcon family. She loves getting to know students and helping them grow into the amazing individuals they are meant to be. Outside of school, Mrs. Thompson enjoys singing, dancing, cooking and baking, watching comedies, and cheering on basketball or whatever sport her husband has on. She loves Mexican and Asian food, shopping at Amazon and HomeGoods, and dreams of vacationing in Hawaii or Italy. She looks forward to a great year filled with learning, growth, and connection.
