Spooky Gym at Farmington: A Fun and Fit Fright!

October 2025 - Farmington’s gym transformed into a “Spooky Gym” this October, where Coaches Maggie Carkeet and Jessica King led students through Halloween-themed games and obstacle courses that made fitness fun. The event promoted exercise, teamwork, and healthy habits, showing students that staying active can be both playful and rewarding.

Farmington Honor Guard Trains with Germantown Police Department

October 2025 - Farmington Elementary’s Honor Guard received special training from the Germantown Police Department Honor Guard, learning proper marching, saluting, and flag etiquette under Officer Mango’s guidance. The experience deepened students’ understanding of respect, leadership, and service. 

Farmington’s Mrs. McMinn Named GMSD Teacher of the Year

October 2025 - Farmington Elementary’s fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. McMinn, was recognized by the Germantown Board of Education as the 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year and received a $5,000 award for her exceptional dedication and impact in the classroom.

Third Grade Dived Deep into Shark Week

October 2025 - Farmington’s third graders celebrated Shark Week with hands-on reading and discovery, exploring nonfiction texts to learn about shark habitats, diets, and their vital role in ocean ecosystems. The engaging week combined literacy and science as students practiced key reading skills and shared creative shark fact posters.

The Smile Behind the Desk: Nour Alzer

September 2025 - Nour Alzer, Farmington Elementary’s front office specialist, has been recognized as the school’s RISE Award nominee for her unwavering dedication, humor, and support for students, staff, and families.

Nikki Benzing Honored as September Teacher of the Month

September 2025 - Farmington Elementary is proud to celebrate Ms. Nikki Benzing, who was named September Teacher of the Month by the City of Germantown during a ceremony at City Hall. Surrounded by her students, family, colleagues, and Principal Ashley Brasfield, Ms. Benzing was honored for her dedication, creativity, and the meaningful impact she makes in the classroom and community.

Teachers and Students Celebrate “Talk Like a Pirate Day”

September 2025 - Farmington Elementary surprised students with a pirate-themed spirit day in honor of National Talk Like a Pirate Day, filling the school with laughter, costumes, and playful “Arrr, mateys!” Teachers and students alike joined in the fun, turning classrooms into swashbuckling adventures that celebrated creativity and community.

Farmington Celebrates International Dot Day with Creativity and Connection

September 2025 - Farmington Elementary celebrated International Dot Day with colorful artwork, polka-dotted outfits, and activities that highlighted creativity, courage, and community. Led by art teacher Kaitlyn Seahorn and counselor Elicia Thompson, students were encouraged to “make their mark” through both artistic expression and acts of kindness.

Games with Grandparents Brings Generations Together for Fun and Memories

September 2025 - The “Games with Grandparents” event was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and activities ranging from bingo to yard games and board games. Families cherished the chance to connect across generations, celebrating tradition, school spirit, and the joy of making memories together.

Farmington Students Honor B.B. King’s 100th Birthday with Handmade “Lucille” Guitars

September 2025 - Farmington Elementary students honored blues legend B.B. King’s 100th birthday by creating their own versions of his iconic guitar “Lucille” using tissue boxes, rubber bands, and plenty of imagination. Guided by art and music teachers, the project combined lessons in music history, creativity, and Memphis pride, filling the school with the joyful sounds of handmade blues.

September 2025 - When you hover over Taylor Pettie’s staff photo, Dr. Seuss comes to life in full color. As a Farmington Elementary first grade teacher, Ms. Pettie uses the amazing author’s whimsy, rhyme, and imagination to spark a love of reading in her students.

September 2025 - Farmington Elementary families celebrated the groundbreaking of the long-awaited Falcon Fortress playground, a $150,000 PTO dream-turned-reality that will soon bring a one-of-a-kind play space to the school.

Meet Officer Mango – Farmington Elementary’s New School Resource Officer

August 2025 - Farmington Elementary is excited to welcome Officer Mango, our new School Resource Officer, who joined in July and is already a friendly, familiar presence dedicated to keeping our community safe. Beyond ensuring security, he looks forward to mentoring students, building strong relationships with staff and families, and becoming an active part of the Falcon family.
